2/7/11-2/13/11

Monday, Feburary 7, 2011 - Sunday, February 13, 2011

This whole week was very boring, uneventful, unproductive, etc.  So, I will quickly write some of the highlights.  The kids all went swimming with the Bottemas on Friday.  It has definitely been a blessing to have them here.  I don't know if the kids are going to survive after the Bottemas leave next month!
We carried on with the Harry Potter movies by finishing the 6th on Friday.  Who has watched the 7th?  Should I let the older two kids watch it?  I am feeling a little torn!
The kids spent quite a bit of time this week working on Valentine boxes and cards.
We continued with our family primary after church.  It was so nice to watch all of the kids sing songs together and to have them learning the words!  They've really missed out on two years worth of primary songs!
Alysa is really showing interest in playing the piano.  She wants to learn more and more.  She started working on her very first primary song!

1/31/11-2/6/11

Monday, January 31, 2011
We seem to be doing the same things each day.....exercise, school, clean, etc.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011
The kids finished their schooling early today so I took them to the club to play chess and go swimming.  We returned in time to get ready for new piano class.  I opted to start a new class at our house rather than at the church.  I think it is going to work out nicely!  There are 6 openings for the class and it has been full since December.  Only 2 showed up though.  It was nice.  The smaller the group, the easier it is for me!
After piano, I headed to choir.  It was nice to have some time away from kids!  I was doing a decent job of communicating and I was even able to make a joke in Spanish!

More schoolwork.

I had a fabulous morning today.  It consisted of another trip to the dentist for my root canal.  Not the most enjoyable thing I've ever done in my life!  They did not utilize the slobber sucker upper thingy enough and I had drool everywhere.  I even have to point to the thing and beg them to use it!  I can't stand that feeling that I am gagging on my own saliva and can't swallow!  At one point they had me sitting all the way to take an x-ray and while we were waiting, I pointed to the thing but they thought I was pointing to the little sink thing.  So, I had a Bill Cosby moment where I had to attempt to spit in a little sink with my entire mouth completely numb.  I don't think it is possible to get more spit on myself!!

I think the scariest part was when they pulled out a cigarette lighter to heat up a little metal instrument before they put it in my mouth to burn my tooth.  Not only was I gagging on spit but I was also choking on the smoke coming out of my mouth!  They did that twice and I don't have a clue why!
They put another temporary filling in but didn't bother to check to see if it was the right level.  Once the numbness wore off after several hours, it was very evident that the only things touching when I close my mouth was the filling and the tooth above it.  It is going to be so much fun trying to chew on the other side of my mouth for the next week!!!
While I was gone, Cole got to go to the Bottemas for the day.  Whereas, Morgan was not feeling well and she got to babysit Alysa and Laina.
Every day we go through the house and try to find stuff that we won't be using for the rest of our time here.  Today we went through the kids school books to find the ones that we are already finished with.  Laina found Alysa's first two reading books from this year and started to read them.  I guess we won't be able to send those back yet!

Laina is so excited to try to read.  She wouldn't leave Alysa's reading book alone for the whole morning!  I am shocked at how well she is doing.  She has also been working to write small words that she has sounded out.   I hope she doesn't get too bored in kindergarten next year!
The Bottemas joined us for an afternoon of swimming at the club.  The kids were all playing so well together.  I think they were in the pool for at least two hours!  It was a nice time for Polly to get some exercising and for me to catch up/get ahead with some school work.  It was a win win situation for everybody!
Chris took Morgan out to dinner and then to the Young Women's New Beginnings program at the church.  They invited all the girls that are turning 12 this year.  I can not believe that I have a child that is going to be in Young Women's soon!  She is really looking forward to going back to the states to go to Girl's Camp this year.
Morgan wasn't feeling good again so they came home a little early.

Morgan was up all night moaning and groaning.  Poor kid.  We let her stay home while everybody else went into town for a little while.  When we got back, she asked if we could take her to the doctor.  I really wish that we had a regular doctor that we could go to rather than going to the hospital.  We got her in, tested, medicine prescribed, and back home in a relatively decent amount of time.  The doctor that saw her gave us his information and said that we can just come to his office directly next time we have any problems.  (Hopefully we won't ever have to see him again even though he was very nice and even spoke English!!)

I think I am starting to suffer from cabin fever, home sickness, or something.  I am going crazy.  I  do not like the unknown and not being able to plan.  We have been told that we will PROBABLY be here through July and then possibly head to Utah for a while.  There are so many variables.  I just wish I knew what was going to happen and that we could settle down somewhere.  I am sure the moment will pass and I will get back to normal but for right now, I am ready to move on.
Super Bowl Sunday.  We had the Bottema's over for the Super Bowl.  We invited the painters also but they didn't make it.  We grilled pizzas, ate a ton of food, watched the game, played with yo-yo's, etc.  I think everybody enjoyed themselves except for maybe Morgan who laid in bed the entire time.
